Looking Forward to 2019
As last year came to a close, Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) released the 2018 economic development numbers for the state of Indiana. Touting a second consecutive, record-breaking year for job and investment commitments, as well as the largest annual number of commitments in IEDC history, the 2018 report encapsulates a productive 12 months that will benefit Indiana for years to come. The reported statistics tell a compelling story of momentum in our business-friendly state and is encouraging for 2019, but certainly is not a surprise. As an established construction and development partner in Indiana, Envoy has felt the momentum from the past two years ripple through various sectors as clients continue to invest in our cities and towns--creating quality projects and opportunity across the state.
As we look back on 2018, my colleagues and I are humbled and honored to partner with businesses that are retaining quality talent, attracting new jobs, and investing millions in Indiana’s built environment— demonstrating the momentum touted by the IEDC’s report.
MedTech Park and Central Indiana Orthopedics – In October, Envoy and Central Indiana Orthopedics broke ground on a new medical office facility in Hamilton County near I-69 and 136th Street. The construction project marked the first development in MedTech Park—a 37-acre shovel-ready, medical-technology development.
As the construction and development partner for MedTech Park, Envoy is working closely with Central Indiana Orthopedics and the City of Fishers to ensure the development of the land and the improvements successfully meet the vision of the corridor. Additional announcements are expected in 2019 as MedTech Park parcels welcome development.
Transformative Public Private Partnerships – When an industry-leader like First Internet Bank decides to expand its footprint and invest in transformative community projects, everyone wins. The City of Fishers announced a massive mixed-use project for the next phase of the Nickel Plate District that includes a new First Internet Bank headquarters along with the potential for a hotel, mixed-use building and parking garage.
To ensure and protect First Internet Bank’s investment in the project, the company selected Envoy to be the development consultant and owner’s technical representative throughout the process. This project will retain jobs, attract new development, and drive economic opportunity in an already thriving downtown Fishers.
Elevate Brownsburg – As the IEDC highlighted, the 2018 commitments didn’t just come from corporate behemoths and massive developments, but also from small businesses and startups across the state. As these sectors continue to grow and thrive in Indiana, investments in our entrepreneurial ecosystem is as important as ever.
In June of 2018, Envoy celebrated the grand opening of Elevate Brownsburg—the first Elevate Office development to open in Indiana. With the cut of a ribbon, and in partnership with the Town of Brownsburg, Envoy and our development partners opened the doors to a business hub in the heart of downtown Brownsburg focused on serving small businesses and startups of all kinds. Elevate Brownsburg offers businesses a highly-professional environment with the flexibility needed to grow and control expenses during startup to scale up and beyond.
More Envoy in 2018:
The healthy business climate has rippled through other sectors of the economy as well. Envoy continues to see investment from the public sector and non-government agencies. In 2018, Envoy broke ground on new, modern firehouses in Vernon and White townships and celebrated the grand opening of a state-of-the-art facility in Sugar Creek Township.
Team Envoy enjoyed another year of growth as services and capabilities evolved. Key personnel, including a Business Development Manager with an expertise in municipal financing tools and a new senior project manager, were added to ensure project success from concept to ribbon cutting.
In addition, out of client demand, Envoy added a building maintenance division. This service line allows Envoy to keep our valued relationships with our clients strong, while maintaining the integrity of our buildings well into the project lifecycle.
Envoy Real Estate, previously known as RealtyQwest, was reinvigorated in 2018 with a renewed focus on property management, commercial real estate services, land investment and development, and investment sales, while maintaining the same great level of expertise clients have come to expect from the residential services.
There was much to celebrate in 2018, and Envoy congratulates the businesses, cities and towns, and agencies that have continued to foster growth and opportunity throughout our state—our clients included. As we look forward to 2019, Team Envoy remains committed to creating high-quality projects that support job retention and attraction and continued investment in the built environment. Much like the IEDC’s efforts to bring jobs and investment to our state will benefit Indiana for years to come, Envoy will continue to ensure our client’s projects are community assets that do the same.
